330 This is a very different story than the first in the series, but equally enjoyable. It may be my favourite from this author thus far. I felt that the story, while not too far off the beaten path of Regency romances, was a little different and quite engaging. I enjoyed reading multiple perspectives. The theme of forgiveness and change were well incorporated and I liked the examination of first impressions. It was overall well-written and edited. I do wish that the author would use less modern words (as in, ones that did not exist, or had different meanings, or are very American), but that's one of my hang ups and much of the book's audience won't notice or care. It was not super prevalent in this book. (I also have a pipe dream of Regency authors using the British spelling of words...but that's definitely a bridge too far, ha ha.) There were a couple issues with names....Gibson being called Gilbert at one point early on, and, near the end, Miss Kingston being used when the character being mentioned was Miss Smithson. I also found the choice of Cohen as the title of an earldom a little problematic. Cohen is a very Jewish surname and it would be pretty unusual to see it as part of common English use. There were certainly Jews in England at the time, discriminated against as they were, but as far as I can find, the first hereditary title to a Jewish man was a baronetcy around 1841, and the first actual peerage was a barony in 1885. I get a little absorbed by the details, but I know that fans of the genre will enjoy this novel and I am happy to recommend it!
